According to the Theban legend, Antiopa, the wife of Lika, whose sons took revenge for the Dirk's persecution their mother tying her to the horns of a wild bull. The legend is a visual display of the famous statue by Apollo and Taurisci (Ser. 1 in. Don. E., A Roman copy of which survives to this day), as well as in the etching.
